Spy Wednesday

On the down land
To the sea
The snow
Has stifled
Ewe and lamb alike.
In other years
Holy Week
Would see
Full fields of lambs.
Now the snow
Has stilled all life
Entombed
In nature's sepulchre.
Shepherds
Mourn their loss.
An ironic triduum
Of rescue and its cost.
