Much taken with a metaphor in a novel by Benjamin Black of the sound of ice cubes in a glass. The "ice cubes chuckled in the glass". It set me thinking about the word chuckle. It has about it a sense of fun perhaps linked to the context of party time, of people having fun. It is not fun at anyone's expense it is an inner sense of fun. How is the fluid happy in the glass perhaps providing an enhancement in the experience of the drinker and almost knowing it. The influence of the sound and the prospect of the cordial raising a smile.
I smiled at the neatness of it and it gave me an image also of the bubbles. Can chuckles be bubbly?
Just a thought
