For many years I have been haunted by a variety of anxious dreams centred around WWD 464. a Rover P2 60 saloon overhead inlet side exhaust. The first was 1953 and the last late fifties. It was black and nicknamed Churchill very rounded. It also had peach coloured carpets and red leather upholstery.
In all the dreams it has faulty brakes, no MOT or insurance and no tax. All the time I am seen driving it and having to hide it fearful of the consequences.
In reality it was sold to a scrap yard for £80 in the mid eighties and then continued to get parking tickets in my name in Croyden, being summoned by the Chief Constable and it took some time to assure them that it was not mine. If I remember rightly some 6 tickets were issued.
And again last night it cropped up at the end of the lane and had to be hauled out by a tractor. It has still not been scrapped. In the dream world it just bowls along and never gets to a chosen destination. However my children are not standing up in the back leaning on the front seats anymore.
