Tuscan Summer

It was all so long ago.  Do you remember ?

So long ago
Among the olive groves
Beyond the vine line
The echo in the valley
Tree lined, dry with stone
“Giuseeeppe! Giuseeeppe!
Dove  Sei ?  Dove Sei?”

I never saw
The putative
Rotundity
Of ma
No doubt clad
In darkest hue
With floury hands
And arms akimbo
But  have her still
In my mind’s eye.

Such a thing
To echo
Down the years
Calling me
To sun kissed days
Beneath the olive trees

Of milk warm
Velvet nights
With fireflies
Shining
In the children’s eyes-
 Another treasured past
To hold against
The colder presence of the future.

A rather rounded font for Mama.

  1. Hello Dad. x

I have always loved reading your poems A.K.A "lyrical content" and the reason i started puting words down on paper was because i was inspired by the poems you wrote and the English lessons you taught me for 2 years at St Bedes high school, you may find that hard to believe because a lot of the time i was to busy rebelling, ha ha.

I am so glad that you have decided to share your work with the masses I have always said to mum you should do it and i'm really pleased and happy.

    Love you dad xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
