Ramification

Long ago
At fell foot
A sequestered ram
Would leap a wall,
Just butted at a gate
Not to be free
But to claim his own.
Beyond confinement
A field of ewes
And he ewes less.
Some of us
Have not the use
To even
Butt the gate.
