Wild Duck

The evening sun
Purple tints
The heather
Over distant hills,
Peaches meadows
Flooded
After days of rain,

As it flies
The curlew cries
High above
The salt marsh,
Where this week
I hear
The wintering teal
Are coming in to land.

Such season seasoning
Adds some savour
To the fare
Of one so welded to a chair.
